Japanese FMCG

Sushi lunch and Pepsi Black Lemon from depato Matsuzakaya in Ginza.
Pre-dinner drinks and snacks: tonkatsu chips (tasted more like the sauce, sweet-ish) and black Sapporo

Oreos - Pina Colada flavor?

Sushi, sashimi and wakame salad dinner from Precce Premium in the basement of Tokyo Midtown.
...Where we also picked up this Rosé de Japon to go with our meal. Not a very memorable wine but surely interesting to try.
Late night snacking and drinking: A flat (?) ice cream cone and Häagen-Dazs crêpe glacé with Tiramisu flavor (B loved this one). The Strong Zero being a R2D mixed drink, and pretty bad-tasting as much as I remember.

Coffee break: Van Houten Cocoa and Roots Aroma Black from 7eleven + Pain aux raisins from local bakery

Another depato lunch.

Best of FritoLay: Mike popcorn, Doritos and Cheetos. B was very fond of this chips compilation.

Cod roe chips (we did not buy these, though).
Lemonade, squid and salad from 7eleven.

Lemon/squash mentos + Melon Fanta

Notes:
B and I are FMCG nerds. Whenever we go traveling be spend a great deal of time in supermarkets and seek out local products and brands. And as you know Japan is a haven in this context. We thus spent every possible occasion to try new products during our Tokyo trip. Some was good, most just interesting, but we surely did have a great deal of fun with it.

Sushi Lovers

Sashimi assortment
Sushi Lovers
Torvehallerne
Frederiksborggade 21, Stade G10/H10
1632 Copenhagen

Notes:
A great place for a quick bite. We went for lunch and our little party of two managed to squeeze ourselves in at the corner of the bar. The service was excellent - smiling, knowing and efficient. The sashimi platter I had was of high quality and very good value at around 150dkk (as far as I remember). However, one can dig into a nice sushi selection at even lower cost. Moreover Sushi Lovers offers a number of biodynamic wines (supplied by Krone Vin). On the recommendation of our waiter I had a glass of Riesling from Mosel which turned out to be a fine match. Highly recommended.

Råkultur

Råkultur
Kungstensgatan 2
11425 Stockholm

Notes:
A marathon led us to Stockholm this May, and what better strategy for a carb feast than going for sushi? I had read about Råkultur around the net prior to our visit and had high expectations - which were certainly fulfilled. Fifteen pieces set us back less than 180sek each, which is quite a bargain 1) for this exceptionally high quality of sushi 2) compared to the quite expensive restaurant scene in Stockholm. I was especially impressed with the nigiri selection which really showcased the incredible fish quality while almost each piece also had a little detail added such as roe, an emulsion or a sort of spice. Highly recommended.

Namu
W Seoul Walkerhill
177, Walkerhill-ro
Gwangjin-Gu, Seoul 143-708

Notes:
During the trip, B and I needed to escape from the Seoul frenzy and at a previous Seoulite's recommendation we chose to enjoy a Japanese meal at Namu, having heard that the view should be exquisite. It was indeed, located inside the W hotel (which is further placed on top of a hill) the tables enjoy a panorama view of the Han river. We went with mixed set meal, the price has escaped me but it certainly was not cheap. To accompany, a bottle of Hugel & Fils pinot gris, again not a cheap bottle - hotel prices, for sure. The food, however, did not let us down. We had an exquisite selection of Japanese classics, not all pictured above. With its crisp-thin coating the ebi karaage was among the best I have ever had, and the sushi selection was nothing short of amazing. While B was not a huge fan, I enjoyed the possibility to try naengmyon in a fine dining setting, here featuring green tea noodles. All in all, a gorgeous but rather expensive night at Namu. Food was amazing and the setting is certainly unique. Recommended.
